Artist's Description
Alan Jones was the second Australian Grand Prix driver to attain the Formula One World Championship for Drivers, which he won in 1980, and one of the dominant drivers of that heady period, from 1978 to 1981, in which Williams Grand Prix Engineering rose from obscurity to World Champions. In my opinion it could have been three World Championships for "A.J.", if not for the vagaries of the scoring system in 1979 (since changed) or sheer bad luck (the misfire at Monaco in 1981) during a period of the most intense competition ever in Formula One.
