Symbolic of Australia is its unique eco-system and wildlife. This is the Australian Koala from the original water-colour design by Simon Read. Sharing classification with wombats (the Vombatidae family) the Koala was often mis-called a 'bear', especially by early settlers. In the wild they are found in coastal areas of the Australian mainland's eastern and southern regions, inhabiting Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia.
